Ed Schneider
Ed Schneider, born in the year of the rat, grew up and attended
schools in Ohio. He has lived in Delaware for 25 years and works
as a Senior Technologist and Specialist in Blood Banking. Ed began
studying T'ai Chi Ch'uan in February of 1999, looking for a way
to reduce stress and increase relaxation. He initially was only
interested in learning the Yang Family Long Form; however, he soon
found himself enjoying and benefiting from various weapon forms,
two person forms, push hands, san shou, hsing-yi and pa-kua. Ed
looks forward to expanding his knowledge of the core elements of
T'ai Chi Ch'uan and is grateful to be in a position to share his
experiences with others. Ed's immediate Delaware Family is Jasmine
Schneider, his Golden Retriever companion. His extended Delaware
Family is Sifu Diane Cannon and the students of Ming Tao Studio.
Learning T'ai Chi has been like peeling an onion.
- The first layer was learning stretches to loosen and relax
the body.
- The second layer was meditation to calm the mind.
- The third layer was learning the postures, names and counts
in the long form.
- The fourth layer was improvement in balance, peace of mind
and relaxation.
- The fifth layer was improvement in the form due to peeling
the previous layers.
- The sixth, actually many layers, was learning
weapons and dance forms.
- The seventh, many layers, was applying knowledge from, the
form to weapons and dance, and then applying the knowledge from
weapons and dance back to the form.
- The eighth, again many layers, was performing left side weapons
and form.
It is suprising to look at the onion each time and see how many more
layers there are to peel. I now know, the onion will never run out
of layers and the more layers peeled, the more whole the onion becomes.
